The Walt Disney Company’s streaming app, Disney+, has been a haven for Star Wars fans to enjoy all of their favorite content from a galaxy far, far away. Since the release of The Rise of Skywalker, it has been the only place for fans to see new Star Wars content. This will soon include the upcoming limited series, Star Wars: Ahsoka. According to a report from Deadline, a familiar face is coming to this new Disney+ series; Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the cast of Star Wars: Ahsoka in a currently unspecified role.
Star Wars: Ahsoka is a spinoff from the highly successful Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Actress Rosario Dawson previously made her debut as the live-action version of Ahsoka in the second season of The Mandalorian. After this, fans quickly clamored for Dawson’s Ahsoka to receive her own live-action series, which is now coming soon with a great cast.
The limited Ahsoka series is being written and executive produced by Dave Filoni, who has had a hand in several Star Wars projects. Filoni’s work on the Star Wars franchise includes Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett. Jon Favreau will join Filoni as another executive producer on Star Wars: Ahsoka. Favreau also worked with Filoni on The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
By joining Star Wars: Ahsoka, Mary Elizabeth Winstead will be joining an already impressive cast. Rosario Dawson is set to return as Ahsoka for the series, featuring Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, a fan-favorite character from Star Wars Rebels. The Ahsoka series is also rumored to feature an appearance from Hayden Christensen, who played the live-action Anakin Skywalker.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a stellar actress who has starred in many great movies. Her most recent roles were in Netflix’s revenge thriller, Kate, and in DC’s Birds of Prey. However, Winstead is perhaps most recognized for her role as Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
