Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 will indeed require an install for the disc based version of the game.  It is confirmed that the mandatory install will be around 4.5 GB for the Bluray version of the game.  Becoming a staple for nearly all PS3 games these mandatory installs are welcome by those that have the hard drive space, and dreaded by the less fortunate 40GB model owners.

As for the digital version of the game, which will be available on the PlayStation Store?  Be prepared for the massive title to eat up around 12 GB of space on your drive.  So start clearing out your old data now.  All of the extra content in the title has pushed the game up in terms of size when compared to the Xbox 360 and PC versions which released a year ago.

Well look at the bright side.  At least it’s not two discs like the Xbox 360 version was.
