Ladies and gentlemen, it’s been eight years. Eight years since we saw the end of the Reaper War, the end of one of the best trilogies in gaming history. Mass Effect was that trilogy, and while Andromeda didn’t hold up well, the three mainline games are still some of the best in RPG history. There’s so much to love, with both the depth and loveable characters holding well in people’s hearts. Today, the journey to the next chapter begins. At The Game Awards, BioWare unveiled what the next chapter of Mass Effect will be. Before you read the rest of this news piece, check out the fresh trailer below.

Now that you’ve watched, Liara is finally back! While nothing about the trailer confirms it, this is almost certainly going to be Mass Effect 4. It would be the next logical step after the poor reception of Mass Effect Andromeda. And I think I’m already in love. The reveal trailer doesn’t give us too much to go on, but Liara’s reveal is a big one. This has big implications not only for the next chapter of the series but the canonical ending of the previous games as well. We’ll likely learn more as time goes on, but it seems that this could mean a lot as far as the future goes.

There were a few particular reveal moments that are worth taking note of. For example, we see a destroyed Mass Relay along with the sound of a Reaper, which sent chills down my spine the first time I heard it. There’s also a member of Mass Effect’s Krogan race in the background, signaling their return to the series. There’s a lot to digest, which I suggest you check for yourself to see what you can find.
