In anticipation of the release of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Bioware has decided to give away some freebies and reveal the performance details for each version of the game. PC users can expect to reach up to 240 fps while the refresh rate is at 240 Hz. The frame rate can change depending on which graphical and performance settings are chosen by PC players. On consoles, the settings will also vary.

Each console version of Mass Effect Legendary Edition will contain two modes: Favor Quality and Favor Framerate. Favor Quality mode “prioritizes achieving the highest visual fidelity possible in exchange for a lower target framerate.” Favor Framerate mode “prioritizes the highest framerate possible by scaling native resolution and reducing some graphical features.”

Both last-generation consoles, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, will run the game at 30 fps in 1080p using Favor Quality. In Favor Framerate, the game runs at 60fps in 1080p. Their upgraded counterparts, the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro, will run the game at 30fps in 4k UHD in Favor Quality mode. In Favor Framerate, both will run the game at 60 fps in 1440p. The Xbox One S, the cheaper alternative to the Xbox Series X, shares the same performance details as the Xbox One X.

The Xbox Series X will run the game at 60 fps in 4k UHD in Favor Quality mode. It runs at 120 fps in 1440p in Favor Framerate mode. The PlayStation 5 will shares these same settings except it will run at 60 fps instead of 120 fps in Favor Framerate mode. This makes the Xbox Series X the best console to play Mass Effect Legendary Edition on. Both of these consoles will not be receiving their own versions. They will both play the last-gen versions just at a higher quality. For instance, if you were to purchase the game for PlayStation 5, just buy the PlayStation 4 version. The same goes for Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S.
