The Custom Game Browser is one of the most anticipated new features for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. When this feature drops, you can say goodbye to frustrating SWAT matches and easily play more of the silly game-modes Halo is infamous for.

To quench our thirst, Wrensi from the 343 Industries Publishing Team shared some menu mockups for the feature over at the Halo Waypoint forum this week. Before looking at this, keep in mind that everything here is currently in development. This could look similar or completely different at release. The Master Chief Collection development team isn’t even sure when the feature will come online, but they are targeting it to launch with “several other new features at or beyond Halo 4‘s release onto PC” later this year. That means we’re not getting it with Season 3 or Season 4. It’s a shame, but it’s to be expected. Without further ado, let’s see some of the first mockups of MCC’s Custom Game Browser.

First of all, the ‘Custom Game Browser’ option will be added to the Master Chief Collection’s Multiplayer menu. It will be located below all other presently available multiplayer game modes. If you have trouble looking at the picture, here is the updated order in the mockup image:

  • Social Games
  • Competitive Games
  • Custom Multiplayer
  • Custom Game Browser

Once you select the Custom Game Browser option, you will be taken to a new page on the menu. Here, you can choose between four different options: Quickmatch, Browse, Filter, and Create. Quickmatch matches you directly into a random custom game room. Create, which Master Chief Collection development team hasn’t made a mockup of, lets you create your own Custom Game. With this option, your room will be hosted in Custom Game Browser instead of Custom Multiplayer and will be open to the public.

As its name stands, the Custom Game Filter screen allows you to filter custom games depending on various parameters. These parameters are maps, title’s multiplayer mode, region, game type, and player numbers. Any changes you make to the filter options will be saved, so you don’t need to mess around in the Filter every time you want to play the Master Chief Collection’s custom games.

The Custom Games – Browse option shows a new sub-menu that lists what custom games servers are currently available based on your filter selections and preferences in the Custom Game Filter menu. You can see the session names, what game type they are playing, which map, player numbers, and most importantly, their pings as well.
