Days after protesters flew a banner demanding Matt Hancock’s exit from the ITV reality show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here; the star left the jungle for real, but not in the way critics had hoped. The former health secretary was among three campers to snag a chance to leave the jungle for a day to enjoy less adverse survival conditions on the beach. Accompanying him were fellow campers Sue Clever and Jill Scott.
The day’s event saw Jill, Mike Tindall, and Owen Warner selected by their campmates to take on the Scareground challenge. The challenge involved the trio scribbling the names of the campmates on balls and tossing them into the tombola. Three winners were picked out randomly from the tombola, earning them a chance to escape the harsh jungle conditions for one day.
A Break From Jungle Life
As part of the winners, Matt Hancock joined Sue and Jill on a helicopter en route to their beach escape. The trip proved to be a long-craved slice of heaven for the lucky celebrities, who had spent weeks cooked up in the jungle. The lucky winners earned a chance to change out of their jungle outfits into customized T-shirts bearing their faces. They seemed excited about the trip, which proved as unique as they anticipated.
Photos of the trio enjoying their fun day at the beach surfaced ahead of Thursday night’s episode. The shots showed the 44-year-old assuming the role of neighborhood chef as he held his kebabs over the fire, accompanied by his fellow winners. Matt Hancock and his group seemed to appreciate every moment of their time away from the I’m A Celebrity jungle, knowing they earned something the other campmates also yearned for.
Ahead of the selection, Mike Tindall admitted a day on the beach with BBQ, surf, and turf sounded “absolutely amazing, while Chris Moyles aired his intention to become one of the lucky winners. The campers even tried to win Owen Wilson a spot on the beach by writing his name on multiple balls. Sadly, neither of them made the cut.
Matt Hancock is Still Crushing His I’m A Celebrity Adventures
The vacation comes days after an airplane carrying an anti-Matt Hancock banner flew across the campsite. COVID-19 Bereaved Families for Justice, the group that championed the protest, claimed the former health secretary deserved no place in the jungle given his past misconduct. So far, they have riled several people against the 44-year-old, with the petition demanding his removal garnering about 45,000 signatures.
However, their effort only seems to intensify the show’s popularity, with Matt thriving since his arrival. Aside from gaining more screen time, the icon has participated in almost every challenge, somehow managing to pull through seamlessly. His latest win proves luck is indeed on Matt Hancock’s side.
