Warner Bros. has confirmed the runtime for the highly anticipated film of 2022, The Batman. Matt Reeves’ The Batman will run for two hours and 55 minutes. It will be the longest runtime for a Batman movie to date.

The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, whose credit includes Let Me In, War for the Planet of the Apes, and Cloverfield. The Batman is set to be released on March 4, 2022. It has an incredible cast of Robert Pattinson in the iconic role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, and Zoë Kravitz as Seline Kyle aka Catwoman. Robert Pattinson was reported to play the iconic role back in 2019. Pattinson is known for his roles in Twilight, Water for Elephants, and Tenet. Zoë Kravitz is known for her roles in Divergent, X-Men: First Class, and Mad Max: Fury Road. The film also features Colin Farrell, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright.

Filming for The Batman began in January 2020, but had to halt production due to COVID-19. It wrapped in March 2021, causing the original release date to be pushed back from October 1st, 2021 to March 4th, 2022. The Batman is reportedly based on the comic, Batman: Year One. According to IMDB’s page for the movie, The Batman is about “In his second year of fighting crime, Batman uncovers corruption in Gotham City that connects to his own family while facing a serial killer known as the Riddler”.

The runtime for The Batman makes it longer than Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Matt Reeves will also be directing the spinoff series that is set to stream on HBO Max. It will feature the reprisal of Colin Farrell in his role as the Penguin. The untitled series has no synopsis at the moment as it has yet to go into production.
