It was an emotional moment for “Friends” star Matthew Langford Perry as he reminisced about his weight loss moments due to opioid abuse in his ABC special with Diane Sawyer. The American-Canadian actor who played Chandler on the sitcom felt sorry for his former self as different clips of him were played.

Seeing how skinny he looked in one of the clips, he was brought to tears. The actor claims he was 155 lbs at the time due to his addiction to pills. ‘Chandler’ also disclosed that the drugs quenched his appetite, causing him to lose weight to an unhealthy extent.

While Matthew Perry was emotional about the effects of his opioid abuse, he disclosed that he was “out of control.” He didn’t even know what was going on because he was also drinking heavily.

The NBC star could only feel sorry for himself after reminiscing. He saw how much his weight changed from season to season while he was in the paroxysm of addiction.

Per TMZ, the 53-year-old actor was able to break the bondage of addiction after 6,000 AA visits and 15 stints at rehab facilities. The Massachusetts-born star pointed out a tactic that helped him overcome his opioid addiction problem.

Matthew Perry disclosed an important factor that could help someone battling opioid abuse. He stated that it’s essential to have a support system while combating addiction.

The actor gave credit to the people around him for helping him through. According to him, Jennifer Anniston assisted him during the show and after. She is truly a friend on and off the set.

Fortunately, all of those efforts weren’t in vain. Matthew Perry’s opioid abuse, which got him emotional, started during the filming of “Fools Rush In.”

But now, he’s doing great, in good shape, and is able to speak up about it to help others with the same predicament.
