When you are facing monsters from another dimension, there will be blood. Stranger Things star Maya Hawke weighed in on her character Robin and what will be the final season of the flagship Netflix series in an interview with Rolling Stone. In the interview, she revealed how she would want her character to die for a “hero’s moment.” Due to the lack of bloodshed from the finale of season 4, it opens the possibility that she or anyone could not make it now that Hawkins formally meets the Upside Down.

The lack of character deaths in the show has brought some criticism. Even Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, has said that the show should be bolder by killing people, even series regulars. The last season killed a few smaller characters and new regular Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). For Maya Hawke, although she wants Robin to die in Stranger Things, she thinks the Duffer Brothers write “so beautifully” and care for both the actors and the characters, which leads to a lack of death. For her, she would respect their attachment to their work.

Maya Hawke would “love” for Robin to die in Stranger Things

Season 3 of Stranger Things introduced Robin to fans. She worked with Steve (Joe Keery) in an ice cream shop at the town’s new mall. While he and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) investigate mysterious Russian messages that tie into the Upside Down, his coworker joins the crew in their supernatural adventures. In season 4, the series further explored her personal story of a lesbian teen in the small town while assisting her friends in battling monsters.

The cliffhanger of season 4 opens the floodgates of the epic finale as the whole town must face what’s been lying below them all these years. The writing process is moving, but with no production date in sight, fans of Stranger Things will have to be patient to see what fate is awaiting Robin and the gang.
