Kurt Sutter, co-creator of Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans M.C., has revealed why he was fired from Mayans M.C. in an interview with Deadline. With the recent discussion surrounding the topic, things have become much clearer as to the reason. Sutter was removed from Mayans M.C. earlier this month due to supposed misconduct on the show.

However, the picture has come into focus with this interview. Instead of complaints about Sutter’s behavior, it turns out the firing may have arisen due to him “going rogue.” So, with this insight, there is a level of interest as to what this rogue behavior was. Considering how Sutter had publicly spoken about leaving the show after season three, it is timely how this happened.

Mayans M.C. Disses Disney

Sutter had been having issues with FX’s new parent company Disney. Creative control is the major factor here. And the rogue behavior? Well, it all surrounds a joke in the season two premiere of the show.

Sutter said in the abovementioned interviewed:

Ouch! If you have an issue with your corporate bosses, this is a savage way to handle it. So, while this one never made it to light, there was an alteration. This joke concerns the idea of Mickey Mouse and Pluto being pedophiles. Therefore, is it is easy to see that there would be some push back from Disney.

As mentioned above, it is entirely possible that this rogue activity could be due to Sutter’s desire to leave Mayans M.C.

Either way, his overall contract remains. So, he kind of dodged a bullet there!
