Back in December when Capcom announced it would be releasing the Mega Man X series on current-gen platforms in 2018, one detail which remained unclear was whether they would be packaged as a genuine collection or released one-by-one.
Well, it looks like we may have our answer.
The Australian Classification Board has rated Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, suggesting that the 8 main Mega Man X games (no Xtreme 1, 2 or Command Mission) will be divided into two separate collections.
Unfortunately, neither page mentions which of the eight games will appear in which collection. Generally speaking, the assumption would be for them to evenly split with four titles apiece, but Capcom didn’t do that with the Mega Man Legacy Collection (Mega Man 1-6) or Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 (Mega Man 7-10) either.
Mega Man X, which first appeared on the Super Nintendo as a soft-reboot for the classic 2D platforming series in 1993, has long been one of the most beloved entries in the franchise. The series hasn’t seen much action in recent years, but many of its characters have. X and Zero have appeared in other Capacom-related titles, such as Project X Zone, and both were joined late last year by Sigma in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.
In the meantime, do note that Capcom has yet to make an official announcement, so it’s possible something could change before then.
