The streaming service Peacock has revealed that it will soon begin the process of doubling down on its animated kid’s programming in the near future and has announced two new projects to set the stage for this change: a Megamind and an Abominable sequel series, two films produced by DreamWorks Animation.
Titled Megamind’s Guide To Defending Your City, the Megamind sequel series is a follow-up to the 2010 movie. In it, the titular character of Megamind goes from being a supervillain and the scourge of the setting Metro City to a superhero and defender of the city. The series will follow him learning on the job as his “brainbots” record and stream his heroic deeds to a larger audience, making him the world’s first superhero influencer. Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons, who both wrote the original film, will executive produce the series alongside Eric Fogel, best known as the creator of Celebrity Deathmatch, and Glenn Martin, DDS. JD Ryznar, best known for Yacht Rock and Drunk History, will also serve as co-executive producer and story editor for the DreamWorks Megamind series.
Will Ferrell’s Megamind has become a cult meme classic over the years despite not garnering much attention upon its release compared to films like Despicable Me, produced by Illumination. Fans have been calling for a sequel for quite some time since the film was first released, and it seems that time has finally come.
Also in the works by DreamWorks Animation is a sequel series to Abomindable, tittled, Abominable and the Invisible City. A comedy adventure series that continues ruight oof from the oroiginal DreamWorks Animation’s film, the series will follow Everest, the yeti, and his human companions Yi, Jin, and Peng as they set out to find a magical world where they can live together happily. When they discover that their surroundings are teeming with magical creatures in need of their help, they will set out on an adventure throughout their city and beyond.
