You would think, given the very nature of the series, that any plans to make a new Metal Gear Solid game would be shrouded in secrecy, but we could, if a Twitter account is to be believed, see something come out of the series for the first time since the middlingly-mediocre Metal Gear Survive released back in 2018. That game, if you even remember it, was post-Kojima’s exit from Konami, and tried to take the Metal Gear franchise into the direction of survival games (like the title, duh) like Rust and Ark: Survival Evolved.
The reason for these rumors existing in the first place comes down to a strange Twitter account that has been posting cryptic references to the Metal Gear Solid series and mentioning something coming in the near future. The account – by the name of Tom Olsen – represents a fictional character in the Metal Gear universe tweeting about his life within the said universe. He apparently works at the Big Shell – the main location in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. According to his tweet below, the President will visit the Big Shell next week – mirroring the plot of the game – a crazy one at that.

Does this mean we may see some sort of remastered version or remake for Metal Gear Solid 2? We’ve been here before. Perhaps we’re just looking for stuff that’s simply not there, which can often be the case with situations like this. Konami hasn’t given anything away that might hint at anything, so like a lot of rumors, we’re shooting into the dark here. We’ll update you if this leads anywhere.
