Following a podcast yesterday by Hideo Kojima that the platform exclusive content for Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will no longer be platform exclusive in Japan on May 1, Konami has just recently announced that the platform exclusive content will no longer be platform exclusive for all consoles worldwide on May 1.

According to Konami, the content will become available through an update on May 1, which also includes tweaks to the menu and game’s display items. As such, PS3 and PS4 users will be able to play the previously exclusive Xbox 360 and Xbox One mission “Jamais-Vu” while the Xbox 360 and Xbox One users will be able to play the previously exclusive PS3 and PS4 mission “Deja-Vu”.

“Jamais-Vu” is a mission that stars Raiden, protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as he infiltrates the Ground Zeroes containment camp. According to the official description, “The new mission sees Raiden charged with investigating an alleged alien incursion, where — forgoing his famed katana blade — he is dropped on the edge of the camp, and must gain access and secure firm evidence of the alien presence. The aliens — dubbed ‘Snatchers’ by the intelligence group — are externally disguised as camp guards, but produce an inhuman X-Ray when tagged using the iDroid app or Raiden’s binoculars. Raiden must locate and eliminate the alien imposters while evading capture by the unaware humans charged with guardingthe base.”

“Deja-Vu” stars a Solid Snake from the 1998 Metal Gears Solid as the player re-enacts famous scenes. According to the official description, “Retracing 16 years of history, the PlayStation-Exclusive “Déjà Vu” mission brings players back to the 1998 PlayStation classic Metal Gear Solid. In an age when graphics were limited to blocky pixelated polygons, Metal Gear Solid set new standards in videogame storytelling with its memorable characters, cinematic presentation, and complex story. Relive the most memorable moments of the past with this Sony-exclusive mission on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Past and present collide as the characters and camera angles you remember from the 16-year old classic are brought to life the high-fidelity world of MGS:GZ!”

According to Konami, this was done as a token of generosity for shipping one million copies of Ground Zeroes.
