Metro Exodus is receiving an enhanced edition for PC later this Spring. The news was dropped in a blog post from the official Metro website earlier today which detailed the kind of enhancements players should expect, as well as details on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions which we first heard about last November.

The blog post details many things about the PC release but here are some highlights:

  • DX12 Ultimate Support
  • Support for DLSS 2.0
  • 4K Textures
  • Polish/Bug Fixes
  • Full Ray Traced Lighting Throughout (Every light source is now ray traced)
  • Next-Gen Temporal Reconstruction Technology

Free Upgrade

All current owners of Metro Exodus will receive the Enhanced Edition entirely for free on both Console and PC. It’s also important to mention that Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on PC will require a Ray Tracing capable GPU at the minimum to run correctly.

The PlayStation 5 version will also be receiving DualSense support for those you who are curious about that. Series S will target a 1080p resolution with full Ray Tracing and 60fps output, as well as all console versions receiving FOV slider options. Both versions offer most of the same upgrades, but the PC version will benefit from Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and support for DLSS 2.0 technology. These enhancements will offer a sharper image output as well as increased performance.

Metro Exodus is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, GOG, Steam, Stadia, and the Epic Games Store. Mac is also set to receive its own version of the original Metro Exodus later this March on the Mac App Store, as well as Steam and the Epic Games Store. Linux will receive a Steam release sometime later this year!
