A new trailer for Metroid Dread premiered during the Nintendo Direct showcase that revealed more story details. The new footage focuses on Samus Aran investigating planet ZDR while uncovering the truth behind the rogue EMMI robots.
The Most Powerful Bounty Hunter in the Galaxy Faces Dread
Backed with intense and pulsating music, the Nintendo Direct trailer for Metroid Dread presented new cutscenes and gameplay abilities. Adhering to the series’ roots on side-scrolling action, the footage is intercut with EMMI encounters that switch up the flow of platforming. In addition to the platformer scenes, Samus can also melee her opponents and utilize free aim for precise shooting.
Each section is uniquely designed to represent a different biome and environment on ZDR. Distinctive enemies will provide different challenges, along with new areas to familiarize yourself with as you traverse the planet.
Samus Aran essentially goes on a new mission to ensure that the X Parasite is no longer a threat. But on the planet ZDR, there is much more at stake behind the curtains of this mission. The EMMI robots seem to hunt the space heroine down as she aims to complete her mission. So, who’s behind all of this? What evil force is pulling the strings here? Only players will uncover the answers when the game hits the Nintendo Switch next month on October 8.
Metroid Dread Reports
The trailer was a part of the Nintendo Direct digital showcase that occurred today on September 23, 2021. It concludes with an invitation to visit the game’s website to catch up on the Reports. These Reports essentially provide more background into the world of Metroid Dread. There are currently eight Reports that you can engage with before the game releases.
