The photo, from Twitter account arrowverse_DC, shows a newspaper on a newsstand for the Gotham City Gazette. The front page shows Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne with the announcement that Wayne is to marry Seline Kyle, also known as Catwoman.

Michael Keaton as Batman

Michael Keaton played Bruce Wayne and Batman in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns. Michelle Pfeiffer played Catwoman in Batman Returns but does now look to be shown on the front page of the paper.

While this does not mean Michael Keaton will be reprising the role in Crisis on Infinite Earths, it is a fun easter egg for fans of the franchise. The crossover series will have some fan favorites returning to reprise their roles, including Brandon Routh as Superman.

Even though Michael Keaton may not be returning as Batman, fans of the Batman franchise will see some classic actors taking on characters in the series. For example, Kevin Conroy will play an older Bruce Wayne, but in live-action instead of animated for a change.

Fans Show Support for Keaton

Fans have hopes that this will lead towards more than just a photo of Bruce Wayne in the series. Reaction to the post is overwhelmingly in favor of Keaton’s performance as Batman and hopes that he does come back to play even a small cameo as Wayne.

Those excited to watch the television event will sadly have to wait a little longer. Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths begins with Supergirl on Sunday, December 8 and ends with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Batwoman, The Flash, and Arrow will also get special episodes for the event in between as well.
