Halo 4 kicked off a brand-new trilogy for the series, dubbed “Reclaimer”. Now it appears that Microsoft is axing that plan, and are calling the upcoming games part of a saga. In a recent interview, Microsoft relayed the news, claiming tht they don’t want to limit the new series to a trilogy.

“While we originally said trilogy, we’ve actually expanded this to more of a saga, so we don’t want to limit the Reclaimer story within a trilogy.” Previously announced, the Reclaimer timeline was supposed to take place in three separate games from 343 Industries.

Halo fans only got a glimpse of what’s on the horizon at E3 2013. A brief trailer showed the Master Chief, but never once did the company mention that it was Halo 5 during their press conference. As has been the case lately, there were mixed messages being sent from Microsoft about what to expect from the Halo franchise, but it’s safe to say that they have no plans on ceasing to make games in their flagship franchise anytime soon.

We’ve been given no word on when to expect the next Halo game, but its probably safe to assume their is not one arriving in 2013, which leaves the fall of 2014 the next likely release window for the next game, whether it be Halo 5, or not.
