Microsoft has seemingly had a hard time selling the platform in Japan which is primarily dominated by Playstation and Nintendo fans, as it is their home turf. Xbox is banking on fan favorites, such as Dynasty Warriors to win their audience in the critical country.

Tecmo Koei announced this morning that Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires is not only coming Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 but it is also coming to Xbox One. It will arrive alongside another anticipated Tecmo Koei title, Warriors Orochi 3.

The fan favorite hack and slash title built its audience on the Playstation family of platforms and gradually spread onto other platforms and in recent years has become a multi-platform title in North America & Europe. What this will mean for future installments remains to be seen but one suspects they won’t give up if the sales are good enough.

Warriors Orochi 3 is set to release in Japan on on September 4th and no release was announced for Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires.
