Just a few hours prior to Gamescom 2015, Microsoft has registered an interesting domain name called “Xbox Elite Series 2016”
The domain name registrations were found by a user on NeoGAF. There were several entries for a “Xbox Elite Series 2016” for some reason. This could be an indication some new hardware is coming.
Microsoft already announced its Xbox Elite controller for the Xbox One. This is a cool yet expensive controller aimed for hardcore and professional gamers. This domain name for a series could mean similar products might be on the way?
A few years ago Microsoft revealed the Xbox 360 Elite console. It would be cool if a redesigned Xbox One console is on the way, although we haven’t heard of anything about that yet.
Several NeoGAF users speculate it could even be Microsoft’s own eSport league. This is possible too considering how popular professional gaming has become. Not only has Twitch made it popular, but pro-gamers can earn a lot of money from it now than a few years ago.
On a related note, Microsoft also registered several domains for Scalebound. This is standard procedure since we know the game will be an Xbox One exclusive anyway.
Hopefully Gamescom 2015 tells us what Microsoft has in store for the “Xbox Elite Series 2016”.
