Microsoft and Rare are looking to test Sea of Thieves for scale this weekend.  While the test started on February 23rd, it’s going to run until Sunday the 25th and the purpose of the new test is test if the online services of the game are working as the game gets closer to launch.

The goal is simple, the developers are trying to hit a higher number of concurrent players that they have in previous tests.  That said, Rare says that they plan to see issues during this beta scale test.

The test is only open to Sea of Thieves Insiders and those who previously participated in the Closed Beta from earlier in the month.  The content in this beta will be similar to what was seen in the previous closed beta, and will be restricted to the Gold Hoarders trading company and voyages that accompany that.

Rare does note that this test is one where players should expect to see problems.  These include but are likely not limited to:  Sessions being interrupted, inability to join the game at certain times, and issues using shops in the game.

Players who’ve previously downloaded the beta can find it in their game library on the Xbox One.
