Midnight Fight Express, the isometric beat ’em up from indie developer Jacob Dzwinel and Humble Games, got a new trailer at the Summer Game Fest event alongside a release date of August 23 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you wish to see all the visceral action you can get down to, check out the brand new trailer below.
Getting Down to Business With a Whole Lot of Pain
Midnight Fight Express follows an equally ridiculous plot to the ridiculous, over-the-top gameplay you’re about to get down to. As Babyface, a former member of the deeply disturbing criminal underworld, your life free of crime has been a fairly relaxing one. That is until a drone shows up out of nowhere, asking you to return to the life you once knew. Not to become a criminal this time though. With the next morning threatening a criminal takeover of the city, it’s up to Babyface to don a signature mug, pick up a bat, and bring the beatdown to anyone who dares stand in his way.
Similar to games like Sifu, Midnight Fight Express puts the action first and asks you to use your surroundings to your advantage. While fists can do you just fine, for the time being, using the items in your surroundings from standard objects to full-on offensive weapons will be the key to success. The odds are stacked against you, with opponents often outnumbering you, but it’s your wits and quick thinking that will help you survive. That, and the heart-pumping soundtrack from the beautiful mind of Noisecream, should help you ensure no enemy is left standing in your way when the night is done.
In the meantime though, I’d love to hear what you have to say about the upcoming title. Will you be beating down criminals in Midnight Fight Express, and what other game announcements at the Summer Game Fest were you excited about? Let me know!
