Story: A tale of justice and revenge spanning a criminal underworld

Kicking off its story at the end of the night’s rampage in a police station where you find yourself being interrogated. A former member of the criminal underworld known only by the moniker Babyface in the midst of relaying the previous night’s events. A night of unbridled violence began with a very talkative drone arriving on your doorstep, relaying a message of a criminal underworld takeover unless you work with them to stop it. So let a night of mayhem commence.

Unfortunately, through all the violence and combat, you’ll find a story that feels more like an afterthought. While they all have a past, the characters aren’t developed enough to feel connected. However, completing levels will allow you to fast forward through dialogue when running through the level again, which helps you breeze through a bit of a lackluster story.

Starting with only some basic skills, you’ll begin your quest by laying down vigilante justice. With light and heavy punches to deal out damage to foes and the ability to block, dodge and parry to keep yourself alive will be your most reliable tools throughout the game. Besides the myriad of skills, there will also be various weapons to pick up and use between bladed, blunted, and firing weapons. Each weapon will have its durability or ammo reserve that limits its use through play. Making sure to use your weapons and skill properly before breaking will decide how quickly you pass through each area. Through the 41 levels and 100 different weapons, players will have various approaches and assaults upon their enemies as they fight their way through the city. Levels will include challenges that, with their completion, will unlock various pieces of clothing and fun cheats like big head mode and changing up play some. Players will find a deep and highly replayable game with Midnight Fight Express offering plenty of rewards for running through levels again, improving time and skill with each replay.
