Miles Morales has been a fan-favorite Spider-Man for years. With a decades’ worth of Marvel Comics history, Brooklyn’s very own Spider-Man has made a name for himself outside of Peter Parker’s shadow. Now the latest issue of Miles Morales: Spider-Man has kicked off Miles’ next big story arc. But from the look of things, it seems like he may need to take a bit of advice from his old pal Peter.

SPOILERS for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25 by Saladin Ahmed, Carmen Carnero, and David Curiel

The issue starts out with Miles and his parents reacting to some startling news. Apparently, Spider-Man has been running around the city committing all sorts of crime. With a rap sheet like kidnapping and robbery, this imposter is doing everything to tarnish Miles’ reputation. After working with his friend Ganke to determine where the imposter will strike next, Miles takes to the streets.

But once Miles arrives at the scene, he’s already too late. The scientists cower in fear from Miles thinking he’s the one who attacked them. Miles reaches out to help only to be confronted by none other than his friend Peter Parker. Thinking Miles is the imposter, Peter briefly battles the younger Spider-Man until the pair manage to talk things out.

They leave the scene to track down the real attacker, spotting him as they swing over the New York skyline. But when they confront this mysterious opponent, they realize he’s not what he appears. Not only does he have a replica of Miles’ Spider-Man costume, but he’s got Miles’ face and some grotesque shape-shifting abilities.

The Spider-Men manage to temporarily overpower the duplicate. As they have him subdued, the imposter secretes a knockout gas that incapacitates Peter and escapes. Miles is still hot on the duplicate’s trail. He tracks the duplicate to another rooftop and he thinks he’s got the upper hand. As he arrives, he’s attacked and overwhelmed by not one but three duplicates!
