Lush Caves are a new and welcome addition to the underground cavern system in Minecraft 1.18. Generating under the ground’s surface at any height, Lush Caves can usually be found in forested biomes. Minecraft players will be thrilled with the rich distinct visuals that the Lush Caves bring. With moss carpeting the floors and hanging from the ceiling, the area is brimming with unique flora life. Thanks to the Glow Berries that grow abundantly within the zone, these new caves are also well-lit. To find these new caves, players will need to search the overworld for a specific tree.

How to Discover Lush Caves in Minecraft 1.18

The key to discovering Lush Caves in Minecraft 1.18 is by finding Azalea Trees. While they look similar to oak trees, Azalea Trees have slightly lighter leaves dotted with small purple flowers. Once players spot an Azalea Tree, they can dig below it, following its roots that eventually lead to a Lush Cave.

A clever strategy to quickly spot Azalea Trees in Minecraft 1.18 is to stand on a high point in the overworld, such as atop a hill or tall tree. Using a Minecraft Spyglass or Optifine Zoom, scan the land carefully for any odd-looking oak trees. Once the player sees an Azalea, they can head over to it and begin digging beneath. As long as players are following the new Rooted Dirt Blocks as they burrow below the surface, they should reach a Lush Cave in no time.

Lush Caves in Minecraft 1.18 can also generate within normal caverns. While exploring an underground grotto, keep on the lookout for any light sources in the dark. The light may be just lava spawning from a rock; however, it could also be clusters of hanging Glow Berries, indicating a Lush Cave is nearby.

Minecraft is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X|S, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
