In Minecraft, the player can craft a whole host of tools and items to help them survive in the world. However, items in Minecraft will eventually break because of the game’s durability mechanic. Luckily, there is a way to repair your stuff through the use of a Minecraft Anvil. That said, in this guide, we will show you how to make an Anvil in Minecraft.
How to Make an Anvil in Minecraft
To make a Minecraft Anvil, you will need three blocks of Iron and four Iron Ingots. Further, you will also need to place these materials in a crafting table with the three Iron blocks in the top row, and the Iron Ingots in the bottom row with one in the middle. See the image below for a reference on where to place them in the crafting table. Before you can get to the crafting of the Anvil you will first need to know how to get the materials to do so.
To start, you will not need to gather many resources as both items you require need Iron to craft. With that said, to get both Iron blocks and Iron Ingots you will need to find some Iron ore, so get digging! As a side note, make sure to use a Stone Pickaxe or above to mine the ore, and you can find Iron ore from block-level 0 to 63 while underground in Minecraft. You will also need to gather around 31 iron ore, and melt them down in a furnace, and after you get all of that head over to a Crafting Table.
Once you are at a table, place 27 of the ingots in all 9 slots in the crafting table in groups of 3. After doing this, the icon for the Iron blocks should pop up on the right and you will need to click on the icon to craft the item. Then that’s everything you will need to do to craft the iron blocks and you should now be able to craft the anvil by placing the Iron blocks and ingots in the correct positions as shown above.
How Do You Use an Anvil in Minecraft?
You can use the Anvil to repair and rename items in Minecraft. Also, players can use the Anvil to even combine enchantments which further doubles the utility of the Anvil. However, as with most things in life, using the Anvil is not free and will require XP to use and you can get XP from completing tasks or killing mobs. Then once you have a sufficient amount of XP, you can start using the anvil by placing an item in the first item slot as shown below.
Next place an ingredient in the second slot which, depending on whatever you want to repair, can be something like an Iron ingot to repair an Iron tool. You can also use other items to repair other items such as using a plain iron sword to repair damage enchanted one. Now for enchantments, you will instead place a Book in the second slot, then after you have done so click on the 3rd slot to complete the action.
