Llamas are the fluffy addition to Minecraft we didn’t think we needed. Most often found roaming the mountainside, they live their lives peacefully. However, though one could leave them alone, what better way to use them than to ride them? The only complication is that riding llamas in Minecraft is a bit more complex than horses.

How to Ride Llamas

You can find llamas in the Extreme Hills, Wooded Mountains, and the Savanna biomes. They are usually found in herds of four or more. To tame them, you will have to have empty hands and patience. Just click on them while you have nothing in hand and you will ride them.

Riding them is the only way to them as their affection for you will increase over time. It will eventually buck you off, and you will have to try again. To make the process faster, you can give them some wheat to lower their temper. Once the llama stops bucking you off, you will know it is tamed.

You will be able to ride these animals anytime after it is tamed, but there is a catch. You won’t be able to control which way they go. That’s right.  The llama will simply go wherever they’d like. However, there is a trick to sort of direct which way the llama goes. Instead of a saddle, you simply needs a lead. It will go in the direction of the lead, and it will also signal to other nearby llamas to follow you. Depending on how many of them are in the area, the number of llamas following you can reach a maximum of ten.
