To reach the third tier of enchantments on an Enchanting Table in Minecraft, players will need to place a block setup where the table can attain a max level of 30. However, players will first need to obtain or craft the unique block necessary for enhancing an Enchanting Table — Bookshelves. Bookshelves in Minecraft can be found naturally in the Overworld and underground, yet they are rare to encounter. Villages, Strongholds, and Woodland Mansions all have a slight chance to spawn Bookshelves, but those that cannot find the decorative block will need to craft multiple ones themselves.

The Optimal Setup for Enchanting Tables in Minecraft

To set up an Enchanting Table in Minecraft, players must first have a total of 15x Bookshelves. Put a row of 5x Bookshelves behind the table, 4x Bookshelves rows on each side, and two in the front. Ensure there’s a block of space between the Bookshelves and the table. With this setup, the Enchanting Table will reach its max level.

Crafting a Bookshelf in Minecraft requires 6x Wood Planks and 3x Books. To make a book, players will need 3x Paper and 1x Leather. Accordingly, the total amount of resources necessary for crafting 15x Bookshelves are as follows:

  • 90x Wood Planks
  • 135x Paper
  • 45x Leather

Minecraft fans are able to place more Bookshelves around their Enchanting Table if they’d like. However, the excess shelves would only function as decor, as the table’s max level can only be 30. Additionally, the setup surrounding the Enchanting Table can be organized in creative ways for more decorative appeal.
