An Allay is a passive mob in Minecraft capable of collecting and delivering a specific item to a player. These small and adorable blue creatures spawn as imprisoned mobs outside Pillager Outposts and within Woodland Mansions. At a Pillager Outpost, Allays can be found in cages near the main structure, trapped in a similar manner to the detained Iron Golems. In Woodland Mansions in Minecraft, players can encounter the flying creatures inside the cobblestone prison cells within the manor. Once Allays have been freed, Minecraft fans will be able to tame these mobs once a certain condition has been met.
Taming Allays in Minecraft
Taming an Allay in Minecraft is exceptionally simple and straightforward. To do so, hold any item and give it to an Allay. This action will cause the Allay to follow its newfound owner wherever they go. However, if the object is taken away from Allay, it will no longer accompany the player.
Minecraft: How to Tame a Fox
Allays in Minecraft have two primary types of behaviors. The first type is a “follow and gather” state, during which an Allay is tamed by being given an item and will therefore follow the player. Furthermore, while the Allay is accompanying its owner, it will actively search the nearby area for objects identical to the one it is holding. For instance, if Minecraft fans give an Allay an apple, it will continue looking for apples as it follows its master through a forest. Once it is unable to find any more of its held object, the Allay will deliver the item stack it has collected to the player. Additionally, an Allay becomes untargetable to the player as long as it is in this follow-and-gather state. This feature in Minecraft is helpful to keep adventurers from accidentally harming their flying helper.
An Allay’s second primary behavioral state can be classified as “wandering” or “untamed.” Whenever an Allay is not holding an object, it will not follow the player or actively search for any items. Therefore, if a Minecraft fan wishes for the Allay that they’ve tamed not to accompany them anymore, they can guide the mob into an enclosure with walls and a ceiling to ensure it stays put. Alternatively, players can use a Lead to drag the Allay to the desired location.
Minecraft is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X|S, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
