As we reported earlier, Minecraft: PS Vita Edition was scheduled to hit the Playstation Store today. It looks like that time has finally come as the game is available for purchase and download right now. The game costs $19.99, but works with cross-buy for the PS3 version. If you own Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition then you will be able to download the game for free. There is also a free demo to try out, in case you are one of the few people in the world who hasn’t tried Minecraft yet.

The official description of the game reads “Imagine it, and you can build it! The critically acclaimed Minecraft comes to PlayStation Vita system. Create your very own game world and explore, build and conquer. When night falls the monsters appear, so ensure you’ve made yourself a shelter before they arrive. Make it through the night and the world is only limited by your imagination you choose what you want to make or what to do. Play on your own, cooperatively with friends in 2 player and 4 player split screen modes, or online with up to 8 players.”

While buying the game for PS3 or PS Vita will get you the other version for free, it does not work for PS4. However, if you own the PS3 edition you will be able to upgrade to the PS4 version for a discounted price of $4.99. Saves can be transferred between PS Vita, PS3 and PS4.
