Mojang has released its next big update for Minecraft on some platforms by overhauling the game’s base underwater elements. The update is only available for Windows 10, VR, mobile, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch users with no sign of a PS4 update in sight.
The update introduces brand-new underwater building elements and an abundance of different fish. The first phase of the update released in May, adding Dolphins, Shipwrecks, and other cool underwater elements.
Some of the highlights from the new update include Sea Turtles, a harmless creature that can appear in Oceans and Beaches. The Drowned, a brand-new underwater zombie enemy that players might encounter, and Bubble Columns, which create upward flowing bubbles that help you breathe underwater.
The update also adds Realms to the Nintendo Switch version of the game after months of waiting. Realms is a paid service provided by Mojang that gives players the option to rent a server for a small fee.
Currently, the only way to play with friends on console is to have one person be online at all times to share their server. With Realms, however, the server is always online so players can play on it whenever they want to.
New items aren’t the only additions to the game, however. There have been a bunch of changes made to items in game to improve the overall experience. Some of these changes include improved steering to boats, Undead mobs that will now sink in water rather than floating, and an abundance of changes to the first phase of underwater items.
