Where to Get Lapis Lazuli in Minecraft Java and Bedrock
In Minecraft, the Lapis Lazuli item originates from its ore counterpart. It appears as a deep, rich blue color in ore form. You’ll find the ore underground between y=64 and -64. With the increased depth added in more recent updates, the depth of ore spawning changed to allow more blocks, particularly deepslate, to spawn. This addition also means you’ll have a chance to find regular Lapis Lazuli ore and Deepslate Lapis ore. Make sure to keep your eyes open for both!
However, you’re not guaranteed to find it upon digging straight down to these levels. Instead, your best bet is to search until you find a cave or ravine and travel around until you find some! Just bring sure to bring at least a stone pickaxe, since wooden ones won’t net you any Lapis. Better yet, add Fortune to it if you want dozens of Lapis Lazuli drops.
Minecraft 1.19: Where to Find Copper Ore
If you don’t feel like digging underground for Lapis Lazuli, don’t worry, you’ve got another option to consider. Lapis also spawns in Mineshaft, Shipwreck and Village chests in both Minecraft Java and Bedrock Editions. While it isn’t guaranteed, you have upwards of a 60 percent chance to find some in Shipwreck chests, while Mineshafts and Villages have a 15 and 25 percent chance, respectively. These methods also won’t typically net you a lot of Lapis unless you search multiple places for an extended time.
