Just in time for the 40th anniversary, Marvel is completing the Miracleman series. Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham’s thrilling Miracleman: The Silver Age Saga returns this October. The unfinished storyline has been silent for thirty years. Now, fans are getting the opportunity to see how the Silver Age storyline ends.

What is the Miracleman Series?

The Miracleman series follows Young Miracleman. He is the lost member of the Miracleman Family. Gaiman and Buckingham’s series focused on a Young Miracleman who had no memories of the modern world. His last memories involved the peace and innocence of 1963. Now, thrust into the chaos of the 21st century, he must adapt. In a world where his friends have become gods and monsters, where does Young Miracleman fit?

This new series includes the remastered editions of the first two published issues of the original run. They include new artwork and bonus material.

Why Return After so Long?

After 30 years, fans will finally experience the full story that Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham had planned. Speaking to Marvel, Buckingham explained some of the reasons behind returning now. He shared that returning after so long is both “thrilling and terrifying.” Especially as Gaiman and he has had these stories in their heads since 1989! He explains that “it is amazing to finally be on the verge of sharing them with our readers.”

As for what fans can expect, Buckingham admits that he has pushed himself to the limit “to craft something special for these issues.” The series return promises to be “cinematic in approach, clean and elegant, drawing on the best of Buckingham’s style. Meanwhile, the series also pays homage to the exceptional talents that worked on Miracleman throughout its original runs. As Buckingham puts it, it is those “unique visions that shaped this ground-breaking series over forty years, and the 1950’s MARVELMAN foundations on which it was built.”
