COVID-19’s impact on Hollywood continues with a slate of updated release dates pushing popular features like Mission: Impossible 7 even further down the calendar, according to a report from Deadline.

Mission: Impossible 7, starring Tom Cruise, will now open on May 27, 2022, Memorial Day weekend—the same holiday weekend as the 1996 original and 2000 sequel.  The next installment, Mission: Impossible 8 has been pushed to an updated release date of July 7, 2023 instead of November 2022. John Wick: Chapter 4 will also premiere that same Memorial Day weekend, but this move pushes Mission: Impossible 7 away from Black Widow.

The fourth installment in the Star Trek rebooted franchise has an updated release date of June 9, 2023. J.J. Abrams will return to produce the new movie but is not likely to direct. There are no details known about potential plot points or casting as of this time. Chris Pine is hopeful that he can return.

Paramount has struggled to find commercial or critical success for their updated movie franchise. However, their updated television series have contributed to the success of the Paramount+ streaming service—Star Trek: Discovery and Picard. It is possible that the movies could find footing with a pivot toward the subject matter of the television shows.

In other shuffles, The Forever Purge moves to July 2 from July 9, while Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway will move to June 18 from its previous date of July 2. Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is moving to an updated release date of July 23. Jackass is going to October 22, 2021.

We got a look at the Snake Eyes movie figures the other day, but those were the cheaper $9.99 ones. The reveals today of the Classified series film line probably gives us a truer idea of the movie appearance of Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Storm Shadow, and Baroness. pic.twitter.com/GvoCL3wAW8
