Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has addressed fans on why they chose the graphical style they did for the recently announced Star Fox Zero.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Miyamoto talked more about Star Fox Zero during a press event that was held on Sunday.

Miyamoto said it was Nintendo’s intention for Star Fox Zero’s gameplay and visual style to be “cartoony“. Miyamoto mentioned this was done on purpose as too many games go for realistic graphics that they start to “all look the same“.

It’s too early to be harsh on the graphics of Star Fox Zero since most people only saw 90 seconds of footage that Nintendo showed during their E3 2015 digital presentation.

However, graphics shouldn’t mean everything. Star Fox Zero looks like it could offer fun gameplay that captures the real essence of the series. Fans already know the misstep the series took with Star Fox Adventures…
