What Does Miyamoto Mean By Rolling Out Films For Nintendo IPs?

While Miyamoto explains that these ventures would be explored individually and not simultaneously, it gives a good idea for the universe they are trying to build. As many fans have been quick to note, a Donkey Kong film is one step further to a Smash Brothers universe. Seeing the appeal of the franchise and the characters, it’s no secret that a wider cinematic universe is the goal. While fans have imagined what Nintendo movies based on their games would look like, it seems they’re taking that concept and moving forward. Having found their footing making the Super Mario Bros movie, there’s a good chance more projects will see announcements. While the films will have their storylines separate from their video games, Miyamoto reaffirms their intent is to drive interest in games. With the Super Mario Bros movie set to debut next holiday season, Nintendo’s film future is bright.
