The open beta for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox and PC is planned to go live on September 24 and will run for only two days to September 26. But it seems that Xbox players will require Xbox Live Gold before they can play in the beta.
The beta will go live this weekend as expected, but it seems that Xbox players will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to be able to take part in the event. This is odd because PlayStation users will not be needing a PS+ subscription to play the beta, reported charlierINTEL on Twitter.
It is not certain why this is the case, but it has been confirmed that there is a limitation for people planning on playing the beta on PC too. Although this isn’t as big of a problem, players on Battle.net or Steam will have to make sure that their platform has their mobile number linked to it to be able to join the beta. Yet another odd requirement.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s beta started on September 16, with those who pre-ordered the game getting early access. That was followed up by the first beta for PlayStation, which went from September 18 through to September 20. After that, with weekend two coming up, Xbox and PC players will finally be able to give it a shot as well.
Those that have signed up for the beta should be getting a code that will give them access to the beta during the allotted time. With only a few days left, beta pre-loading on Xbox and PC is available so fans don’t have to spend any of the beta time downloading the actual game.
Why is it required for Xbox players to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, while PlayStation didn’t require PS+ is fairly confusing, especially since Xbox is already in the process of acquiring Activision. One would assume the opposite scenario to take place.
Once the beta ends, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will officially come out on October 28 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC as well.
