Modern Warfare 2 players eagerly awaited the Battle Pass feature to launch. Beforehand, we knew that they implemented changes to the system that can seem unfamiliar. In fact, when you first view the screen, you may feel a touch overwhelmed by the obvious differences. With our brief guide, you can learn to navigate the Battle Pass in Modern Warfare 2 easily enough. By the end, you’ll either enjoy the change in pace or feel some nostalgia for things lost in the past.

How to Navigate the Battle Pass in Modern Warfare 2

If you’ve played the previous Call of Duty games, you may remember how linear and streamlined the Battle Pass setup was. This rings true for most Battle Pass designs in just about any game, to be honest. You start at the beginning and proceed to unlock various things in order. There’s no way of reaching the other items in the Battle Pass without gaining the previous ones first.

However, in Modern Warfare 2, the Battle Pass system takes a turn. It’s still a 100-tier structure like before. Rather than a linear progression, though, the system is laid out on a multi-sector combat map.

Activision is implementing this type of Battle Pass system in the hopes of making things less strict for players. Meaning you have more choice in what you want to unlock first rather than the game forcing you down a specific path.

When you first launch it, though, there’s a chance that the new Modern Warfare 2 Battle Pass map can be confusing to navigate. There is a lot to take in, but it’s straightforward to navigate once you learn everything.

Modern Warfare 2: How to Get Point Blank Kills Easily

The map grid is broken into various sectors ranging from A0 to A20. A0 is a bonus sector that is not connected to anything else. Meanwhile, A1 through A20 are all connected.

Each of these sectors has 5 rewards like weapons and skins. You must gain the first four before you can access the final reward. You need Battle Token Tier Skips earned by playing the game to get these.

Also, in the new Battle Pass system in Modern Warfare 2, finishing one sector will unlock the ones adjacent to it. For instance, when you finish A1, sectors A2 and A3 are unlocked as they are adjacent to the A1 sector. However, you can choose which to go to from there.

Want the rewards from A3 first rather than A2? Well, you can do just that. When you finish A3, sectors A6 and A5 are unlocked. The Battle Pass system goes on from there.

A different way to look at a Battle Pass system, for certain, but it offers far more freedom compared to other features.

Modern Warfare 2 is available on PC, PS5, and PS4 systems and Xbox One and Series consoles.
