Modern Warfare recently dropped a ton of new info regarding what we can expect from its multiplayer this October, including a 100-player ground war mode. With this high player count and the success of Black Ops 4: Blackout, fans have speculated on if battle royale would make an appearance in Infinity Ward’s upcoming Call of Duty game. While speaking with IGN, Multiplayer Design Director Joe Cecot discussed these rumors:

Cecot continued:

No Battle Royale, No Problem?

So, it looks like battle royale will not have a presence in Modern Warfare, which may be a good thing for the game in the long run. There has been a lot of promises and hype surrounding this title. So much so that this may be the most anticipated Call of Duty game to release in quite some time. Its campaign has been touted as a dark and gritty story about the harshness of war. Multiplayer-wise, Modern Warfare looks to be a return to the series’ roots. Boots-on-the-ground, no specialists with insane supersoldier abilities, and the return of killstreaks in place of scorestreaks.

As mentioned above, the multiplayer will have a 100-player ground war mode, 2v2 gunfights, a 20v20 mode, and much more. To add in a battle royale on top of all this would be a daunting task for Infinity Ward, especially at launch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release October 25th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
