Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s developers reveal what’s next for the shooter.

Modern Warfare reinvented how 2v2 is played in Call of Duty. The Gunfight mode features small, specifically made maps and a rotation of weapons. A few days ago, they added a 1v1 version of the mode but now they will be adding a 3v3.

In November, Modern Warfare had an extremely popular 2v2 tournament with XP and cosmetics as rewards. The highlight of the tournament for me was the in-game bracket system. This is something you normally see within private tournaments, such as the MLG Gamebattles. You can see where your team places in the tournament and what’s going on in all of the other rounds. Infinity Ward is promising to hold another tournament once they have “squashed a few bugs and added in new rewards.”

Many players have been complaining that five loadout slots weren’t enough. The main issue was that standard 6v6s, 32v32 Ground War, and co-op Spec Ops missions all used the same loadouts. Each of these modes requires different loadouts due to how different they are. In Ground War, you want to carry anti-vehicle weapons while in 6v6 they’re less needed. Only having five classes meant that players often had the unnecessary inconvenience of changing loadouts on the fly. The community update agrees that five loadouts aren’t enough so they’ll be adding more over the coming weeks.

Infinity Ward also promises more double XP events to help level up and complete the battle pass!

Bug Fixes

Many bug fixes have also been addressed. Ground War has been plagued with players finding their way into glitch spots. It’s very common to see a player shooting you from beneath the map or behind a wall. This will be addressed in the next update. Players have also had trouble unlocking platinum weapon skins due to challenges not registering, but this will also be fixed.
