Mojang Studios is set to release an educational map today that coincides with Microsoft’s annual sustainability report. The map ‘Sustainable City’ is available to download as part of the Education Collection in the Minecraft Marketplace on Bedrock Edition. The world will include six downloadable lessons for the Education Edition of the game and numerous interactive exhibits ranging from food production and alternative energy to recycling.
Mojang has turned Microsoft’s annual sustainability report into an opportunity to educate everyone on the importance of conservation and green initiatives. The new map modeled after the sustainability report is an interactive city that includes lessons on water outflow and treatment, sustainable food production, responsible forestry and forest conservation, alternative energy sources, sustainable and energy-efficient homes, and recycling waste. The map features six main locations for players to visit to learn more about these sustainable initiatives and what the average player can do to help make the world a little greener.
According to the press release, Mojang has created the map “as part of its mission to build a better world through the power of play.” The map will be made available to the millions that already play the best-selling video game of all time, including the 35 million students and educators worldwide that make use of the game’s education edition in the classroom.
