Dark Side of the Monster

After a few days of being released for Early Access on Steam, the monster taming RPG known as Monster Crown has surpassed over its original successful Kickstarter campaign with more positive feedback from players.

Its campaign was launched back in 2018 to overwhelming responses, having run through a month and ending with 9 times the initial expected support. At the time of this writing, the reception on Monster Crown‘s Steam page is currently “Very Positive” with 74 reviews.

Monster Crown takes place on Crown Island, where monsters rule the land instead of humans. A force of malice and tyranny has come to endanger the land. Only you and your fellow creatures can stop this madness, as antagonistic monsters, people, and events lurk at dark corners. Tame, breed, and fight as you continue to explore and learn the many different types of monsters in the game.

Inspired by the likes of Dragon Warrior Monster 2, Tibia, and the early days of Pokémon, Monster Crown aims to explore the darker side of humanity and monsters in a world where taming creatures is a reality: a “Pokémon for adults” if you will. And Walsh has used this obvious comparison for his development, as he said in an interview with PC Invasion, “the comparison gave me the freedom to introduce people to a different world by making use of their existing knowledge and expectations.”

With over a thousand creatures to choose from, it’s up to you to assemble the best monster crew on your journey to becoming either a revered hero or a vicious avenger of the dark side.

Monster Crown was released on July 31 for Early Access, and you can grab it now while its 10% off on Steam.
