What would happen if Harvest Moon and Pokemon had a baby? It’s simple – the answer is Monster Harvest!

Announced recently via press release, publisher Merge Games have released an enticing trailer to show off the game’s mechanics. Check it out below:

As the trailer shows, Monster Harvest combines RPG elements with those of a life-sim to create a unique and vibrant world. Set in the fantasy world of Planimal Point, players explore the land, recruiting the titular ‘Planimals’ into their party. They can then be used to further explore Planimal Point and battle enemies along the way.

But the ‘Harvest’ part of the title means something, too. Players can grow crops on their farmland and mutate them into monsters ready for battle. In addition, players can craft items and refurnish their homes to their liking. Monster Harvest appears to be a very personable, customisable RPG.

Adding more life to its world are the three seasons – Dry, Wet and Dark. Each of the three seasons affect the way you can play, including what crops you are able to grow. Players of Monster Harvest should be wary of the dark season however, since strange mutations occur which can dominate the land.

The developer of Monster Harvest, Maple Powered Games, was founded by a Canadian husband and wife duo who wanted to create family-friendly games that everyone can enjoy. Publishing the game are Merge Games, a Manchester, UK-based company that publish indie games. They also specialise in publishing collectible games for retail for independent developers, including the Streets of Rage 4 Signature Editions released earlier this year.

Monster Harvest is “coming soon” according to its trailer, on Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
