Like the Shrine Ruins, Frost Island is one of the new hunting maps in Monster Hunter Rise, and similar to other maps, it features the new Sub-camp system as well. Debuted in Monster Hunter World and returning in Rise, as its name suggests Sub-camps are additional camps in hunting areas that let you restock items and even grab meals in the middle of a hunt. You can also fast-travel to any of the Sub-camp to make chasing monsters or finding specific items faster.

But before you can utilize these convenient camps, you must first find their locations and do some chores to unlock them. In total, including the Main Camp (which is unlocked instantly together with the hunting map), there are three camps in Frost Island. Let’s see where they are hiding as well as how to unlock them.

Monster Hunter Rise Frost Island Sub-Camp Locations

Sub-Camp 1

It is located just northwest of the Main Camp, near Area 6 and Area 7, hidden behind rock pillars. Unfortunately, there are no gathering spots around the camp aside from a single Great Wirebug. After dropping by the area, to unlock it you need to talk to Kagero the Merchant and do the Frost Island Sub-camp Security request:

  • Slay 8 Zamite in Frost Island area.

Sub-Camp 2

From the Main Camp, it is situated far to the north between Area 8 and Area 10, in front of the ship’s remnant. However, you can actually get there a bit faster from Sub-camp 1 if you have planted some Great Wirebugs around the map. Use the Great Wirebug in front of the Sub-camp 1 to fling you to Area 10, then walk to the right for a bit to use another Great Wirebug. You should be transported to the front of Sub-camp 2. Surrounding the camp you can find Honey, a mining spot, as well as Spiribirds and plants like Snow Herb, Sunscorned Grass, and Smokenut. To unlock it you need to talk to Kagero the Merchant and do the Frost Island Sub-camp Materials request:
