Sandy Plains is one of the returning maps from Monster Hunter Tri in Monster Hunter Rise, but unlike in older games now there is a Sub-camp system. New to Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, as its name suggests Sub-camps are additional camps in hunting areas that let you restock items and even grab meals in the middle of a hunt. You can also fast-travel to any of the Sub-camp to make chasing monsters or finding specific items faster.

But before you can utilize these convenient camps, you must first find their locations and do some chores to unlock them. In total, including the Main Camp (which is unlocked instantly together with the hunting map), there are three camps in Sandy Plains. Let’s see where they are hiding as well as how to unlock them.

Monster Hunter Rise Sandy Plains Sub-Camp Locations

Sub-Camp 1

It is located just northwest of the Main Camp, below Area 7, and in the middle of a small ruin. There you can find a patch of Herb and if you look behind the camp and climb the short ruined tower, there is also a Relic Record containing the Sandy Plains Message VII. To unlock it you need to talk to Kagero the Merchant and do the Sandy Plains Sub-camp Security request:

  • Slay 8 Kestodon in Sandy Plains area.

Sub-Camp 2

Going further north, you can find the last Sub-camp, near Diablos’ roaming areas. It is below Area 9 or the right side of Area 8. Just look for a rather large, but shallow, hole then jump right inside of it. Surrounding the camp there are a Stinkmink, a Godbug, and a Jewel Lilly/Great Wirebug spot. To unlock it you need to talk to Kagero the Merchant and do the Sandy Plains Sub-camp Materials request:
