With Sunbreak‘s introduction of the new Citadel locale in Monster Hunter Rise, players have a new Sub-Camp to find and unlock. Setting up the Sub-Camps in the Citadel is the same process as in the previous locales. Hunters must first locate the camp on the map by finding the site’s burnt-out bonfire. A message from an NPC will appear, indicating that a new quest to unlock the campsite is available. Accordingly, the players must then return to Elgado and speak with Oboro the Merchant to accept “Citadel Sub-Camp Security.” After the quest’s completion, the Sub-Camp will become accessible as a fast-travel point in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

Unlocking the Citadel Sub-Camp in MHR: Sunbreak

First, Hunters must search for the Citadel’s Sub-Camp in Sunbreak, located in the northeastern corner near Zones 4 and 5. Next, to complete “Citadel Sub-Camp Security,” players must hunt Boggi ×8 within the Citadel locale. Once this task has been fulfilled, talk to Oboro the Merchant to end the quest and unlock the Sub-Camp.

Monster Hunter Rise: How To Get Firecell Stone

Starting from the main camp of the Citadel, head northward into Zone 1. Follow the trail to the intersection area of Zone 2 and continue towards Zone 5 in the north. Within Zone 5, climb up the vines onto the elevated platform and turn right to find a passage leading through a ravine. Pass through the small gully to encounter the stairway of ancient snow-buried ruins. Follow the path to the right of the stairwell and turn left into a hidden passageway marked by a Bonepile. At the end of the winding tunnel, Hunters will discover the secret area with the Sub-Camp of the Citadel in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

The next step is to travel back to the Elgado Outpost and speak to Oboro the Merchant, who will give players the quest, “Citadel Sub-Camp Security.” As mentioned above, this mission’s objective requires Hunters to “Slay 8 Boggi and the Citadel.” The Boggi is a small Bird Wyvern with a head shape that resembles a combination of goblin and hyena. Below are two locations in the Citadel where players can find this small monster type in Monster Hunter Rise:

  • Zone 1: the ridge north of the western trail
  • Zone 8: the central clearing of the zone

After hunting down eight Boggi, return to Oboro to complete the quest and unlock the Citadel Sub-Camp in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

Monster Hunter Rise is available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
