Monster Hunter Rise is one of the best monster-slaying action RPGs players can enjoy investing time in its world. Not a long ago, the Sunbreak expansion was released for the game that added a whole new bunch of quests and, of course, monsters. One of these monsters is called Shagaru Magala, and here is the guide on how to beat it in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

How to Beat Shagaru Magala in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Shagaru Magala is an Elder Dragon that was added to the game as part of the Sunbreak expansion. This is a Level 8 threat that can inflict Hunters with a status ailment known as Frenzy. This means the resistance and defenses will be reduced significantly. Not only that, but Hunters who suffer from Frenzy will take increased damage from monsters.

Also, Shagaru Magala is immune to Water damage and highly resistant to the Ice Element. But this means it will be weak to Dragon, Poison, and Fire weaponry. The parts that will deal the most damage are Wyvern’s Head, Forelegs, and Neck.

While bearing in mind Shagaru’s weak points, it is best to use weapons such as Empress Regalia, Rosenfader+, or Rosenzahn+ to take the dragon down. It is also best to equip gears with decent defensive Skill Effects, like Evade Window or Evade Distance.

Defeating the monster will award you with S. Magala Cortex, S. Magala Shard, S. Magala Purifier, S. Magala Lash, S. Magala Hardhorn, S. Magala Mantle, and S. Magala Lightwing.

Shagaru Magala has some unique mechanics that you should beat it with in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. The first one is Empowered Frenzy Spew, which means Shagaru will fire powerful projectiles that will affect its victim with Frenzy.

Then the Frenzy Eruption Shagaru will burst with an explosive breath attack. One variation is that the monster bursts on the ground with explosives reaching different directions. There is also a surprise attack that only happens if the dragon is close to the target.

There is also the Frenzy Rain, where Shagaru Magala will roar from the sky, which causes beams of dark energy to fall from above. And then there is the Body Slam, but Shagaru’s slam has a broader range than other Wyverns in the game.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is available on PC and Nintendo Switch.
