This is the most recent Monster Hunter Rise collab to drop for the game, the one before this crossing over with various characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, to the surprise of many fans from both series. Additionally, this is not the first collab between the Monster Hunter franchise and Universal Studios Japan. The two have a bit of a history together, starting back in 2011 with a special event held for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. The two have since collaborated again to make another theme attraction in the form of the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne VR, which will remain with Universal Studios until August 28, 2022.

Players will be able to take on two new quests to earn materials and forge armor for your Hunter, Palico, and Palamute once the new Monster Hunter Rise x Universal Studios Japan collab goes live. The gear set will be called the “Azure Age” armor set, with the matching “Azure Star Blade I” and “Azure Era Wyrmbow I” weapons to go along with it.

Players can participate in the event quest USJ – Shrine Showdown! to earn these accessories, and in the USJ – Arzuros Onslaught! quest to earn the Azure Era armor set/ F Azure Era Fan and theAzure Era armor set/C Azure Era Wyrmblade for their Palico and Palamute, respectively. Players will also be able to team with the new “MEOW LIMIT!” Palico made to celebrate the theme park’s 20th anniversary.

Finally, the director of the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak expansion has also teased some to share key phrases as teasers/clues for the upcoming content in the expansion in a recent Tweet, which is set to arrive later this year.
