When Monster Hunter: World released in 2018 it took the world by storm and, has since become Capcom’s best selling game of all time, selling over 16 million copies. Two years later, and it’s still going from strength to strength with the Iceborne expansion bringing with it a whole host of new and returning players.
Some fans weren’t as happy with Monster Hunter: World as they found the added accessibility of the title made it feel like Monster Hunter lite. Others absolutely adored this as it meant they could get into the series for the first time.
Whatever side of the camp you fall under, it goes without saying that we all want more Monster Hunter in some form. Thankfully, this looks set to be happening on the Nintendo Switch.
Back in 2018 Capcom stated there was no intention to bring Monster Hunter: World to the Switch, but did add that they were looking into the development of Monster Hunter games for teenage children.
As of yet, there has been no information on the next game in the franchise, however, if prolific leaker Dusk Golem is to be believed, that is all about to change.
The insider has claimed a new Monster Hunter title is being developed for the Nintendo Switch, and it will run on a Switch compatible version of the RE Engine. Before you get your hopes up, he also goes on to state that we won’t be seeing the modern Resident Evil titles as any games on the engine need to be designed specifically for the Switch.
That’s all the information available at present, let’s hope that Capcom gives an official announcement soon, but, until then you can file this under rumor.
