Capcom is bringing a lot of fresh news in today’s Monster Hunter Digital Event – March 2021 stream. One of them is the release date for Monster Hunter Stories 2, the RPG spin-off of the Monster Hunter series. The game will be released on July 9, 2021, for PC and Switch, along with new additions (and a returning face) from the previous installment. This time, the game is adding Co-Op Quests that lets you team up with another Rider in multiplayer missions. Monsters from World are officially being added, including Pukei-Pukei and Anjanath. And last but not least, Navirou, the first game protagonist’s (annoying) Felyne partner, will be joining your adventure as well.

Besides the standard release copy, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will also launch with a Deluxe Edition bundle. It contains an extra outfit for both you and your companion Ena, two outfits for Navirou, an exclusive Spiky Nergal hairstyle, and two in-game Sticker Sets.

The game will also offer connectivity with Monster Hunter Rise. First, by pre-ordering the game you will get a Kamura Maiden Outfit for Ena. And by linking your Monster Hunter Rise save file, you can unlock Kamura Garb layered armor for your character in the game. Meanwhile, Nintendo will be releasing three brand new Amiibos modeled after the characters: Ena, Razewing Ratha, and a Palico named Tsukino. The Amiibo will grant you additional layered armor along with daily bonuses.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin story begins with the mass disappearance of Rathalos from around the world. As a fledgling Monster Rider, you meet a mysterious Wyverian girl named Ena who knew your illustrious grandfather, Red. She has been entrusted with the last of the Rathalos’ egg — a Razewing Rathalos. However, with its birth, the fate of the world now hangs in the balance. The additions of Co-Op Quest and World‘s monsters actually have been known from the recent Capcom leak. The leak detailed that Monster Hunter Stories 2 will feature 140 monsters in total; at least nine of them are from Monster Hunter: World. Nergigante, Legiana, Kulve Taroth, Bazelgeuse, Anjanath, Tobi-Kadachi, Paolumu, Pukei-Pukei, and Kulu-Ya-Ku. From 140, 90 of them will be recruitable to your party as a “Monstie.” The game will have three different game modes:

  • Story Mode.
  • PVP mode (one vs. one or two vs. two).
  • Cooperative dungeon crawling and challenge mode with AI partners.
